"Because Nine out of Ten People..."

The 1980's. Doesn't bring to mind the greatest music of our times, does it? Think Culture Club,Wham, Bow Wow Wow... a cultural void, if you will (apologies to JFM). Lurking in this sea of aural torture was one Boston (actually, Cambridge) band who sought to claim the decade as their own. To show us, after all, that good music could be made during the Reagan years - and that band was The Fine Line.

The 1990's, for the most part, were low-key years for the group. Off on various expeditions, finding themselves, a la George Harrison and all that far eastern stuff. Well, something like that. There were always rumors, though, that someday... somehow... they might be back.

The latest rumor is a reunion at some small intimate venue near New York City, some time in early August.
That's right:
THE FINE LINE IS BACK... and better than ever!

2005: "20: The Reunion"
On the heels of their strange brew of new millenial tunes created in the electronic void, the Fine Line was, alas, nowhere to be heard again. The money-changers did stumble, barbarians did strike, and war and lies and pestilence brought blight upon the land.
The Fine Line scattered across the globe once more....
Then a "Behind the Music" rock-u-mentary detailing the band's sordid history and "where-are-they-now" shameful descent into medicine, machines and general normalcy triggered rumours:
Could they? Would they?
More importantly, should they?
Famous rock journalist Z.T. Pinhead noted in Rolling Stone that it had been 20 years since the FL's formation and that they owed the world a comeback. U2, at their recent R&R Hall of Fame induction, elected to play not one of their own songs but to cover the long-lost Fine Line chestnut, "She Likes it On Top." And now, after all these years, for the very first time in over a decade, a live Fine Line performance is reality. Come join us for the Brouhaha by the Beach, the 20-year Fine Line reunion show. It may very well be our last.
